Find somewhere quiet where you can start to meditate without any distractions. This is important as in order to meditate a person needs peace and quiet. You might find that there is a good place in your house or garden to do this.
When you have done this either sit or lay down in a position that suits you. Start to relax each part of your body whilst slowing down your breaths. At first this may feel strange, but it will soon seem normal.
Then slow down your breathing as much as you can, do not hold your breathe to do this though. Take notice of how long each breath takes by counting each one up to 5 or seven. Be aware of this and how you are relaxing more with each further breath.
Now it is time to put your focus onto something, aim for a pleasant noise you might be able to hear. Cut everything else out of your mind and remain focused.
